Planes were not common at that time and Wellington was intrigued by them. He had an offer to pilot one and, against the wishes of friends and family, he decided to do it.

Listed in the 1901 census as living with his parents, age 20. Name was spelled incorrectly as Welington.

Betty Scharff and Barb Malchuk has his birth year as 1879. Verified by “Official return of birth”, submitted by Sarah Jane Boyle who was Wellington’s legal guardian at the time (June 10, 1918).
