Since the 1871 census (with the wrong spelling of ‘Romey’) indicates that she was 1) born in Quebec), and 2) of English descent, it is quite possible that the 1852 census for Stanbridge township, Missisquoi County, Canada East (Quebec) has her as Roselle Smith, age 19. If this is her, then her father was Martin Smith (a Carpenter and Joiner), born in England, married to Mary (born in Quebec), with brothers and sisters: Martin (age 17), Julia (age 11), Lucy (age 8), Henry (age 4) and Marcia (age 1).
