Beyond the Cimeeon Moon was the 2nd program in the Cimeeon series (the first was the Adventure 3-Pak) from Nelson Software Systems
(makers of the VIP Library, amongst other things). This is a 3D arcade style game, with some adventure
elements thrown in (you have to find disks, weapons, and other objects), where you are trapped
on a spaceship in orbit. It plays in real time, as do the others of the series. The mission for the player is to escape the spaceship that they are on, without getting killed or suffocating. The game features multiple floors, but rather than visual ladders, it uses a large green "X" to indicate the player ca go down, and a large blue "+" to indicated the player can go down. The player can get both in the same spot, which means they can go up or down. There are multiple objects to find in the game, including several weapons, several wearable objects, and 3 different colors of discs (Y=Yellow, B=Blue, R=Red) that are used to unlock certain doors.
Nelson Software Systems later changed their name to Softlaw, and their games division to ColorQuest.
The games controls are a mix of some "hot keys" as well as the more traditional verb commands. Certain verb commands will also prompt for the name of an object. The commands are divided like so:
Single character commands:
I - short for INVENTORY, which you can fully type if you are a purist. (Unlike the other single key commands, this does require hitting the ENTER key).
Left Arrow - Turn left 90 degrees.
Right Arrow - Turn right 90 degrees.
Up arrow - Move forward.
Down Arrow - Move backwards.
SHIFT-CLEAR - Restart game. Since you can get locked into cells, you will need this until you map out where to go.
Verb Only commands:
DOWN - Move down a floor (requires player standing by green X).
UP - Move down a floor (requires player standing by blue +).
FIRE - Fire weapon (there are several to find).
OPEN - Open something.
PUSH - Push something (like a button).
SEARCH - search for hidden objects.
Verb commands which will then prompt for an object:
HOLD - Hold something.
DROP - Drop something from your inventory.
WEAR - used to wear certain objects.
TAKE - pick up an object and put it in inventory.
