Trek-16 is a low res graphics version of the popular Star Trek game that started originally on mainframes and mini-computers in the 1970's. This version is basically turn based (some were more real time), and has a different system than most for firing and moving the Enterprise (designated by the "E" on the short range map shown in the screenshots above). Most versions used a direction based system (for example, a direction of 0 might fire to the right, 1 would fire diagonally up and right, 0.5 would fire diagonally a little up but more to the right, etc.); this one is different. For steering the direction the Enterprise is moving in, it uses what the game calls "R&C Displacement (which stands for Row and Column); these are Y and X offsets. This version is also different in that the Move command sets up the direction to move in, but the player does not actually move until they issue a Warp command. Phaser and Photons on the other hand, do not use displacement/offsets; these commands instead have the player specify the actual R&C coordinates (Y,X position) to fire at. The long range sensors, like most Star Trek games of this type, show numbers representing the quantity of certain objects within the quadrant; the number of stars, starbases, Klingons, etc.

Commands are 1 or 2 character commands, followed by 1 or more prompts depending on the command:
Move - Prompts for the Row & Column "displacement" (offset) to travel.
Warp - Prompts for the warp factor (how many coordinates the Enterprise will move per turn, based on the short range sensor map).
Phasers - Prompts for the actual Row & Column to fire at within the current short range sensor scan. It will ask for the amount of energy units to fire.
Shields - Prompts for both Shield status and how much energy will be devoted to them.
Dock (with Starbase) - used for replenishing energy, photon torpedoes.
Repair - returns repair status of critical systems.
Torpedoes - fires Photon Torpedoes. Prompts for how many to fire, and actual Row & Column to fire at within the current short range sensor scan.
DR - fires your Death Ray , which I believe can only be used once.
Base locator - Gives the player the coordinates for all Starbases.
